Coinciding with the show, Aperture is going to release a monograph containing the photography. In the following essay, prepared for this blog, Sally Mann reveals her thoughts behind "Proud Flesh".

In her latest work, Proud Flesh, Mann, 58, is equally unflinching. This time, the subject is her husband Larry, to whom she has been married for the last 39 years.
